1. Avoid hitting the snooze button
Each time when we hit the snooze button we are sending our body mixed messages; wake up when alarm is ringing and continue sleeping when we hit snooze button. It confuses our body and we feel lethargic.
2. Let morning light flow in to bedroom
When it’s dark our body produces hormones that makes us feel sleepy. If sunlight is flowing into bedroom those hormones level will drop and body will not feel sleepy.
3. Complete the shower with cold water
Cold water can activate parts of our brain responsible for regulating wakefulness and increase our metabolic rate, reducing feelings of fatigue.
4. Exercise daily
Exercise enhances cognition and increases blood flow, feeding our brain with more oxygen.
5. Stay hydrated
Mild dehydration reduces alertness, increases fatigue and can affect our concentration. Start the day with a large glass of water to replace any fluids lost during the night through sweat and breathing
6. Eat your way to alertness
A healthy breakfast will help sustain alertness throughout the morning. Avoid foods high in sugar, the effects are short-lived and alertness wares off quickly.
